Last year I became the proud owner of a new-to-me 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid and I love it! Until today. I got the "Stop Safely NOW" message this morning, just as I was pulling into a parking space to drop off my daughter at school. 20 minutes later, the car started up fine, the message was gone & warning light was off, so I drove to work.Problem has occurred 4 times now over the past 4 months and each time I have taken it to Ford deal for repair. Basic performance that takes place is after a highway run with cruise control on of about 60 to 70 miles at 65 mph, stop safely warning appears, gasoline engine shuts and I am able to, with some luck, get over to shoulder and stop.I’ve been getting this message for a while now but it would mostly occur in the summer when my car would overheat. I’ve been getting this message for a while now but it would mostly occur in the summer when my car would overheat. Over the past summer I seemed to have gotten the issue fixed as the wiring was all over the place and was causing the hybrid battery to over heat and automatically shut the engine off either while idle or driving. Ok, so I have the hybrid Escape with about 75k miles. Lately, when driving for an hour or more, I will get a message that says "Stop safely now". The engine cuts off and I have to coast to a safe place to stop. It sucks when this happens on a highway! It happens more often in the summer, but I also find myself driving more in the summer.
