my 2001 kia rio is stuck in park. the car has been sitting for over a year. after changing the front passenger tire I started the car and it would not shift. none of the fuses are blown. I took apart the cover around the shifter and the brake lock seems to be working fine. any ideas to get this car out of park?1 Answer. The problem does eventually progress into a much more serious situation, where cycling the gears and restarting the car does nothing.
